The symposium will provide a forum for original research contributions and practical
system design, implementation, and applications of GIS.

Topics of interest include the following, but are not limited to those shown below:

• Spatial and spatio-temporal data modeling

• Interoperability and standards (including metadata, ontologies
• Spatial, spatio-temporal and multidimensional access methods
• Spatial query processing and optimization
• Spatial reasoning

• Multiple representation in spatial databases
• Large-scale GIS servers and parallel GIS
• Graphical aspects of GIS and Spatial DBMS
• Visual query languages

 Regular Paper Submission

• Full papers, consisting of 5,000-word manuscripts, will be thoroughly reviewed. Manuscripts should not exceed 10 pages (A4 size). It must describe original work that has not been published before nor is currently under review elsewhere. Papers must be written in English. All submissions will be reviewed by three members of the international program committee, and suitable submissions will be accepted for presentation at the conference.
  
• Camera-ready versions: The paper must be prepared according to IEEE CS style format. All full papers are to be submitted in Word or PDF format to the email address: asgis@ie.niigata-u.ac.jp
• Authors should use the style instruction included in ASGIS2008_format.zip file, which is available for download from this site.
  
• Please leave your contact address, postcode, telephone number and Email when you submit papers.

Publication:

Accepted papers will be published in the 6th Asian Symposium on Geographic Information Systems from
a Computer Science & Engineering Viewpoint. Authors of best/some selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers for inclusion in the Journal of ChongQing University of Posts and Telecommunications (Natural Science), while a copyright transfer is necessary.
